Virtual Paging on your iphone
Many of our virtual paging customers use an iphone.  One of the challenges is that the current iphone firmware does not allow the setting of distinct ringtones for each email account. Therefore, you may not be aware that a virtual page has arrived on your phone. Fortunately, a 3rd party application is available for $4.99 within the iphone app store called "MailTones" Mailtones will allow you to choose a distinct alert tone that is loud and long when a page comes through. Setup is fairly simple. Below is our suggested setup: 1. Set up a free gmail account from google that will be used strictly to receive pages. 2. Use a simple email account name such as your name, then the word pager, then a number...example johnspager24@gmail.com 3. Provide this email to pagersdirect when you set up your virtual paging service. 4. Once this new gmail email account is activated on your iphone and your PagersDirect virtual paging service is set up, send yourself a page and make sure it shows up in the new gmail account. 5.  Download the mailtones app to your iphone 6.  Setup forwarding on your gmail account so that all email is forwarded to the email address that mailtones gives you when you click on the "mail forwarding" link towards the bottom of the mailtones settings screen.  To set up forwarding on gmail, click on the settings link at the top right of your gmail account page, then click on the "forwarding" link 7.  Forward a copy of incoming mail to the mailtones email address that you found on the mailtones settings screen as mentioned in the paragraph above and also set forwarding to keep a copy of your emails in your gmail account. 8.  This will send all of your pages to the mailtones app and keep a copy of your pages on your gmail account.  To complete the forwarding setup, a confirmation code will be text to your phone and you will need to enter that code in the confirmation box in the gmail forwarding section. 9.  Once forwarding is setup, go to the mailtones settings on your iphone and set the "recipient matching" to the name of your new gmail account.  Using our example, you would have entered johnspager24@gmail.com as the recipient, you will then choose an alert tone you would like to hear when a virtual page is received. That's it, you are done!  Send yourself a page and make sure your mailtones alert tone sounds off when the email arrives on your iphone
